An ongoing road project by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) aimed to connect Agusan del Norte to Agusan del Sur now ensures improved mobility for residents and farmers.

Secretary Mark Villar, citing a report from DPWH Regional Office 13, said that the NRJ-Mayor Democrito D Plaza II Avenue-Las Nieves-Sibagat Road Project will connect Butuan City, Agusan del Norte to the municipality of Sibagat, Agusan del Sur

The 45.34 kilometers project involves road opening, concreting, and construction of four (4) bridges and widening of the bypass road.

The project will also serve as an alternate route of Agusan-Davao Road along Daang Maharlika from Barangay De Oro in Butuan City to Barangay Mahayahay in Sibagat, which are prone to landslides and soil collapse, added Secretary Villar.

According to DPWH Region 13 Director Pol Delos Santos, the road is now accessible with 42.46 kilometers concreted, improving mobility and opening economic opportunities in the benefitted barangays which cultivate vast agricultural lands with corn, palay, coconuts, and bananas.

The entire road project is targeted to be fully completed by 2023. (DPWH)
