PINAMALAYAN, MINDORO – Two hundred residents of Pinamalayan received financial assistance from the SAGIP Party List and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Thursday, December 2, 2023.
The beneficiaries, who belong to various sectors such as farmers, tricycle drivers, construction workers, senior citizens and women, received P 3,000 each in a pay out ceremony held at the Municipal Park Covered Court. The event was facilitated by the Municipal Social Welfare Office and the DSWD.
The recipients expressed their gratitude to SAGIP and its representative, Congressman Dante Marcoleta, who has been supporting the town of Pinamalayan for several years.
Residents also thanked businessman Romel “Direk” Bernardo, the coordinator of SAGIP in Pinamalayan, who owns the Direk Fuels gas station chain with branches in Gloria, Pinamalayan, Socorro and Pola.
SAGIP is one of the most active party lists in the province of Mindoro, providing assistance to the needy and creating employment opportunities for the locals.
According to its records, SAGIP has helped 600 people under the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation program, and 200 people under the Department of Labor and Employment’s TUPAD program, since 2020.
