The Dauis Municipal Police Station (MPS) and its chief of police, PLt. Thomas Zen Cheung, received a commendation from the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (Provincial Council) of Bohol for their outstanding performance in the campaign against illegal drugs in 2023.
The Provincial Council, led by Vice-Governor Victor Balite, passed a resolution of commendation during its regular session yesterday, January 30, 2024. The resolution was sponsored by Board Member Tomas Abapo Jr., the chairman of the Committee on Peace, Order and Public Safety.
The resolution recognized the Dauis MPS and PLt. Cheung for achieving the highest accomplishment in illegal drugs among all municipal police stations in Bohol in 2023. According to the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO), headed by Provincial Director PCol. Lorenzo Batuan, the Dauis MPS conducted 23 anti-illegal drug operations that resulted in the seizure of 5,724.70 grams of illegal drugs with a street value of P38, 927, 960.00.
PLt. Cheung, who has been the chief of police of Dauis since July 2022, expressed his gratitude to the Provincial Council for the commendation. He also thanked the BPPO, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the local government of Dauis, and the community for their support and cooperation in the anti-drug campaign.
He said that the commendation was not only for him and his personnel, but also for the people of Dauis who deserve a peaceful and drug-free environment. He vowed to continue his efforts to eradicate the illegal drug problem in his area.
