The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has announced an ambitious expansion of the ‘Walang Gutom 2027: Food Stamp Program’ set to commence in July. This initiative aims to significantly increase the number of beneficiaries from the current 3,000 to 300,000.
The announcement was made by DSWD Assistant Secretary for Innovations, Baldr Bringas, during a media forum held at the Central Office’s New Press Center in Quezon City on Thursday, March 14.
Assistant Secretary Bringas outlined the department’s strategic plan, stating, “Our goal for July is to upscale our reach from 3,000 to 300,000 beneficiaries.
The program will continue for an additional year, after which we plan to incorporate another 300,000 individuals, bringing the total to 600,000 beneficiaries by 2025. By 2027, we are hopeful to have onboarded 1 million beneficiaries.”
This expansion is part of the DSWD’s commitment to eradicating hunger and ensuring food security for all.
