Farmers in Mabalacat City celebrated the conclusion of a lowland vegetable technology demonstration and derby with a harvest festival on July 30.

The event, held in Barangay Sta. Ines, marked the end of a collaborative project between the National Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture Program, High-Value Crops Development Program, and private seed and fertilizer companies.

The initiative aimed to enhance farmers’ skills in cultivating lowland vegetables using modern technologies and training.

A total area of 4,212 square meters (45,340 square feet) was planted with various vegetables, including eggplant, tomato, hot pepper, bell pepper, squash, string beans, bitter gourd, okra, sponge gourd, and bottle gourd. Each participating company was allotted 702 square meters (7,556 square feet) for vegetable cultivation.

The Department of Agriculture’s Regional Field Office III organized the event to promote agricultural development in the region.
