CEBU CITY, Philippines — Police in Central Visayas arrested two of the region’s most wanted individuals in separate operations conducted Tuesday in Cebu City and Siquijor, as part of an intensified crackdown on fugitives, authorities said.
In Siquijor, a 41-year-old man wanted for frustrated murder was apprehended around 9:30 p.m. in Purok 1, Barangay Bitaog, Enrique Villanueva town. The operation was carried out by joint forces from the Tagbilaran City Police Station, Bohol Provincial Police Office (PPO), CIDG-Bohol, the Provincial Intelligence Unit, and multiple regional units from the Police Regional Office 7 and the Negros Island Region.
The arrest was made under a warrant issued on June 17, 2025, by Judge Jennifer Chavez Marcos of Regional Trial Court Branch 2 in Tagbilaran City, Bohol. Bail was set at P200,000. Under the Revised Penal Code, a conviction could result in a prison term of up to 20 years.
Meanwhile, in Cebu City, police arrested a 30-year-old man for alleged possession of illegal drugs. Personnel from Police Station 10 of the Cebu City Police Office served the warrant in Sitio Ubca 2, Barangay Quiot.
The arrest warrant, dated July 8, 2025, was issued by Judge Dante R. Corminal of RTC Branch 16 in Cebu City. The suspect, charged under Section 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, also faces a P200,000 bail. If convicted, he could face imprisonment ranging from 12 to 20 years, depending on the quantity of narcotics involved.
Brig. Gen. Redrico A. Maranan, regional director of PRO-7, praised the efforts of the operating units and reaffirmed the police’s commitment to bringing fugitives to justice.
“Through our intensified efforts and collaboration across police units, we are determined to track down fugitives and ensure they are held accountable for their crimes,” Maranan said. “This is our promise to the public—that no criminal will remain beyond the reach of the law.”
The Police Regional Office 7 continues to urge the public to report any information that could lead to the capture of wanted individuals and enhance public safety.
