BASILAN — Soldiers from the Philippine Army’s 45th Infantry (Gallant) Battalion and 32nd Infantry (Daredevil) Battalion sharpened their combat readiness through a joint live-fire and rappelling exercise on July 29, 2025 in Ungkaya Pukan, Basilan.
The training, conducted under the 11th Infantry (Alakdan) Division, aimed to enhance troops’ marksmanship, fire discipline, and tactical insertion skills in simulated high-pressure scenarios.
The activity also emphasized the importance of coordination, teamwork, and unit interoperability—key to effective joint military operations in conflict-prone areas.
The Army said the drill forms part of its continuous effort to build a mission-ready force capable of responding swiftly to security challenges and insurgent threats in Mindanao. Basilan, a province in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, has been the site of long-standing conflicts involving militant groups.
Officials noted that exercises such as this reinforce the military’s goal of sustaining peace and stability in the region through preparedness and unity in operations.
