Military, Police Honor Soldiers Killed in Clash With Communist Rebels in Northern Samar
CATARMAN, Northern Samar — The Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police paid their final respects to two fallen servicemen killed during a clash with communist insurgents in Las Navas, Northern Samar.
A solemn interment ceremony was held on August 4 at Camp Sumuroy in Catarman for Corporal Arcel B. Sicnoy of the Philippine Army and Police Executive Master Sergeant Harry M. Palao-ay of the PNP. The two men died in action during a joint operation against suspected members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) earlier this month.
The 3rd Civil-Military Operations (Sandigan) Company, 8th CMO Battalion, CMOR, PA, joined forces with the 803rd Infantry “Peacemaker” Brigade led by Brig. Gen. Carmelito T. Pangatungan, the 4th Scout Ranger Battalion, and the PNP to render full military honors.
The ceremony included a final salute and a symbolic send-off, recognizing the bravery and ultimate sacrifice of Sicnoy and Palao-ay in defense of national peace and security.
Military officials said the event underscored the government’s unwavering commitment to honoring its fallen heroes and supporting their families.
Both Sicnoy and Palao-ay were part of joint military and police forces actively pursuing armed insurgents in Northern Samar, a known hotspot for communist rebel activity.
