BORONGAN CITY, Eastern Samar, July 28, 2021 – More than ten tourists sites had been opened, others improved recently, despite COVID-19 pandemic. This was gathered from the Borongan City Tourism Office.

These are: the Matandogon Rock Resort in Brgy. Canjaway, Hilangagan Beach (Pt. Mary), Ganap Cave Cold Spring (Cagbonga), Kaputian Falls and Pisak in San Gabriel, Kayak Camada (Camada), Luyang Beach (Locso-on) Saob Cave (Locso-on), Baraluarte Eco Park (Maypangdan), Bugas Mangroves (Bugas), Karawisan Beach (Divinubo), Loom Riverfront (Taboc).

Eastern Samar in Visayas, Philippines is a hidden paradise waiting to be explored.

By opening, it means holding consultation meetings with the barangay officials, for possible issues on road-right-of-way, but the source said, when issues like this crop-up, they are eventually ironed-out with the land owners.

It is also important for the barangays to organize the community-based tourism group, that will be responsible in the conduct of tourism activities including the crafting and enforcement of barangay ordinance that will guide them in their operation, the source added.

In a separate forum, it was learned from DOLE Provincial Manager, Engr. Alexi Abellar that as an assistance due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the groups operating Matandogon and Hilangagan Beach Resort were to receive soon an approved financial assistance from his office. Other applicants will follow, the DOLE province head said.

Engr. Abellar revealed DOLE’s realization for the many family heads or their wives who lost their livelihood due to the pandemic, thus their assistance.

The source added that eventually, when COVID-19 pandemic comes lighter, and as tourism activities boom in these barangays, certain steps will be adopted in order to generate income for both barangays and City LGU. (PR)
