Survivors of the ill-fated C-130 aircraft who are currently recuperating at Camp Navarro General Hospital met their rescuers on the morning of July 14, 2021.
Three members of the Civilian Active Auxiliary and one civilian, who were among the first responders during the air mishap, personally visited the soldiers together with Joint Task Force Sulu/11th Infantry Division Commander Maj. Gen. William Gonzales.
Present were Erham Awaluddin, CAA Madzkur Sahibbon, CAA Sharief Abridge Abdua, and CAA Benhar Awaluddin. They are dubbed as the Herculean heroes.
Erham is a 22-year-old construction worker who, despite the danger brought about by the exploding ammunition from the burning plane, unhesitatingly rushed to the crash site and helped in extricating the victims.
Likewise, amid the burning wreckage, CAA Madzkhur Sahibbon, CAA Benhar Awaluddin, and CAA Sharief Abridge Abdua of the Bangkal Patrol Base joined their cadre in bringing the survivors to safety. They were able to rescue more than 20 soldiers from the crash.
The four, together with Maj. Gen. Gonzales, visited the soldiers purposely to boost their morale. Maj. Gen. Gonzales distributed cash assistance and food packs to the plane crash survivors.
“I will do everything to support our soldiers because this is the time that they need it the most. The healing process is quite difficult – they are not just undergoing physical healing but also emotional and psychological hence this is the time to provide them with our all-out support,” said Maj. Gen. Gonzales.
Maj. Gen. Gonzales also visited the troops confined at the private and public hospitals in the city. (WestMinCom PR)
