As part of the Bureau of Customs’ (BOC) commitment to enhance its border security efforts, the Enforcement Group’s Water Patrol Division on July 12, 2021 kicked-off the Small Boat Operation And Maintenance Course for its 29 members.
The training was conducted in coordination with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Bureau’s Interim Training and Development Division (ITDD). Attending the kick-off were Rear Admiral Allan Victor Dela Vega (PCG), Enforcement Group (EG) Deputy Commissioner Atty Teddy S. Raval, ITDD Chief Lady Fatima Dela Cruz, and Enforcement and Security Service (ESS) Director Felimon “Yogi” Ruiz.
The 25-day course shall equip water patrol personnel with basic navigation, boat handling and maneuvering as well as boat operations and maintenance. The training aims to prepare personnel for the arrival of 20 Fast Boats which shall form the new water assets of the Bureau of Customs.
In his statement, Deputy Commissioner Raval expressed his expectation that the training will better equip BOC Water Patrol Division to patrol and secure the nation’s borders under the guidance and leadership of BOC Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero.
