Huawei Philippines, a leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) solutions, officially opened its Digital Innovation Center (DIC) and launched its Seeds for the Future program at 4th Avenue, BGC, Taguig City on September 8, 2023.
The DIC is a state-of-the-art facility that showcases Huawei’s latest technologies and solutions in various fields such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence, 5G, Internet of Things, and smart cities. The DIC aims to provide a platform for collaboration and innovation among Huawei’s partners, customers, developers, and academia in the Philippines.
The DIC also serves as the venue for the Seeds for the Future program, which is Huawei’s flagship corporate social responsibility initiative that aims to nurture young ICT talents in the country. The program offers online and offline training courses, mentorship sessions, and internship opportunities for selected students from top universities in the Philippines.
The opening ceremony of the DIC and the launch of the Seeds for the Future program were attended by Huawei Philippines President Mr. Li Wei, Department of Information and Communications Technology Secretary Mr. Gregorio Honasan II, Commission on Higher Education Chairman Dr. Prospero de Vera III, and representatives from Huawei’s partner organizations and universities.
Mr. Li Wei said that Huawei is committed to supporting the digital transformation and development of the Philippines through its innovative solutions and talent cultivation programs. He said that the DIC and the Seeds for the Future program are part of Huawei’s vision to build a fully connected and intelligent world.
Secretary Honasan II expressed his appreciation for Huawei’s contribution to the ICT sector and education sector in the Philippines. He said that the DIC and the Seeds for the Future program will help boost the digital economy and create more opportunities for Filipino youth.
Dr. de Vera III praised Huawei for its efforts to bridge the digital divide and empower young ICT talents in the country. He said that the DIC and the Seeds for the Future program will enhance the quality of education and research in ICT-related fields.
The opening ceremony also featured a virtual tour of the DIC, a demonstration of Huawei’s cloud-based solutions, and a presentation of the Seeds for the Future program curriculum. The first batch of 50 students from 10 universities who participated in the online training course received their certificates of completion from Huawei.
