The Department of Agriculture in Central Visayas (DA7) turned over a unit of multi-cultivator tiller to the Bagakay Nasipit Irrigators Association of Barili, Cebu.

DA-7 OIC Regional Director personally handed the certificate of turnover to Jenifer Barbac, the president of the association.

Prior to the turnover, technical personnel of the DA7’s Regional Agriculture Engineering Division (RAED) conducted an inspection with field demonstration, with the presence of the association members to witness the performance of the unit. This is also an avenue to train the operators of the machine on proper operation and maintenance.

“All machineries delivered will undergo field demonstrations before turning over to the beneficiaries. Also, prior to the inspection and field demo, RAED will conduct acceptance testing of 1 unit for every 10 units procured of machineries to ensure that the delivered machines conform to the Philippine Agricultural and Engineering Standards (PAES) and approved specifications”, said Engr. Paolo Acero, technical staff of DA-RAED 7.

Nemesio Cabigas, a member of the association, after seeing the demonstration, expressed his gratitude to DA for the said intervention, as this will speed up their land preparation and that the machine is easy to operate.
