    Korean Air overshoots at Cebu Mactan Airport in the Philippines during a turbulent landing on October 23, 2022 night. All passengers and crew were declared safe from harm.

    BREAKING NEWS – A Korean Air KE aircraft has overshot the runway of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport late evening on Sunday, October 23, 2022.

    This was confirmed by the Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) in a statement released at 2:20 a.m. on Monday.

    It said all passengers and 11 crew members were brought to the airport’s Terminal 2 for medical evaluation.

    Its statement read in full:

    “Korean Air KE 631 aircraft has overshot the runway at the Mactan–Cebu International Airport.

    All 162 passengers (160 adults and 2 infants) and 11 crew, or a total of 173, have been safely evacuated to the MCIA Terminal 2 for medical evaluation.

    Now at the site to conduct unified operations assessment and action are the operations teams of the MCIAA (Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority), GMCAC (GMR-Megawide Cebu Airport Corporation), and CAAP (Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines).

    The MCIA runway is temporarily closed pending assessment. More details to follow.”

    Earlier, Nagiel Bañacia, chief of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) of Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu where the airport is located, wrote on Facebook that his team also responded to the incident.
