Manila – The University of the East (UE) has decided to dissolve its taekwondo, chess, softball, and weightlifting teams as the school reels from financial losses.

A reliable source told RedWire that UE disbanded the sports teams due to the “decrease of enrollees” and “low performance in the UAAP.”

“Despite all the struggles and hardships, our athletes give us pride and medals as they represent UE in different competitions,” the student said.

The source bared that the student-athletes were waiting for the final decision of the UE Administration on the athletic scholarships when they received the “heartbreaking” news.

Wala naman, ‘di ba?” the student added. (Red Wire News)
