The Vice Commander of the Communist NPA Terrorist (CNT) operating in Negros Island was captured in a joint operations participated by Army’s 62nd Infantry “Unifier” Battalion (62IB) of the 3rd Infantry Division, and members of the Philippine National Police-Guihulngan on June 12, 2022 at Sitio Anahaw, Brgy. Sandayao, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.
The arrested top CNT was identified as Macario Fat Sr also known as “Lawin”, Vice Commander of Section Guerilla Unit under Central Negros 1 (CN1), Komiteng Rehiyon-Negros, Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor (KR-NCBS). Operating troops acted upon a disclosed information from a reliable source about the CNT cadre’s location. During the arrest, the cadre was in possession of one caliber .45 pistol and two magazines loaded with 11 serviceable ammunitions.
Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., commended the 62IB and PNP counterpart on its untiring effort of suppressing the local communist armed conflict.
