Lumban, Laguna – Three suspected drug dealers were nabbed by the police in a buy-bust operation in Lumban, Laguna on Saturday, February 3, 2024. The police seized 3 million worth of shabu, or crystal meth, from the suspects, who were identified as high value individuals in the provincial drug watchlist.
The operation was conducted by the joint forces of the Laguna Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, Provincial Intelligence, PNP Drug Enforcement Group, Regional Highway Patrol Unit, and Lumban Municipal Police Station. The operatives posed as buyers and arranged a deal with the suspects in Magano Street, Barangay Maytalang.
The suspects, who used the aliases Fred, Jim, and Cynthia, were arrested after they handed over six sachets of shabu weighing 550 grams to the undercover agents. The police also recovered the marked money used in the transaction.
The regional director of PRO CALABARZON, Police Brigadier General Paul Kenneth T Lucas, commended the anti-drug units for their successful operation. He said that the arrest of the suspects and the confiscation of the illegal drugs were a significant achievement in the campaign against drug trafficking in the region.
He also ordered the anti-drug units to conduct a thorough investigation to trace the source of the shabu that was being distributed in Lumban and nearby areas.
The suspects will face charges for violating Sections 5 and 11 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, which penalize the sale and possession of prohibited drugs.
